| The Peoria Historical Society The Peoria Historical Society has roots as far back as 1839. Incorporated in 1934 as the Peoria Historical Society, the PHS seeks to preserve the unique history of the Central Illinois River Valley for the education and enjoyment of generations. African American Hall of Fame Museum Founded in 1987, the African American Museum Hall of Fame Museum details the history and accomplishments of African Americans with collections and exhibitions of African American life and culture. Peoria Regional Museum Society The Peoria Regional Museum Society was chartered in 1952 to promote knowledge and appreciation of the history, industry, science and art of the region through exhibits in area museums, and through further research, collecting and programs. Illinois High School Association The IHSA serves more than 760 member public and private high schools by providing leadership for equitable participation in interscholastic athletics and activities that enrich the educational experience. The not-for-profit organization regulates interscholastic competition in 13 sports for boys and 13 sports for girls, as well as seven non-athletic activities. The IHSA also stages state final events in all of these sports and activities except music.
